I would not be worried about the battery. I wished to have a second one for a better autonomy on long trip but even with a spare, I would had have an authonomy of 3 hours (1.5 each) and my bag would have weighted 20 pounds.so I never bought a spare. I owned a G73 and a G75 for two years each and the battery never got tired. No one tried to remove the battery yet, so we don't know how it can be done, and it appears irrelevant for now. For replacing the battery, you have to go to an Authorized Asus services.
I tested The G751JY to have an autonomy of 4 hours on battery at full power setting while surfing on the web and working a word document.Ģ and 3. Desactivating the GPU is no longer relevant. What is the warranty period for the battery?ġ. I understand that there is no simple way of replacing the battery still, is there any way for the user to replace the battery if needed, even if it voids the warranty? Or do I have to take the laptop to the service every time I need to replace the battery with the new one?ģ. With no nVidia Optimus available, is there a simple way (or any way for that matter) to manually switch between the GPUs during normal work, or is the Intel GPU never used in practice?Ģ. I am considering buying G751JY and I have several questions:ġ. > Each suffix-SKU (-DS/-CH/etc) spec is decided by country/retailer, not ASUS - please contact them, rather than ASUS, to confirm specific spec details. > Four display outputs can all be used at once: laptop display + HDMI, DP and d-sub together. 120/144Hz displays are supported over HDMI/DP (VG248Q for example). > GTX 860M model is the only one with touchscreen. > You do not have access to the WiFi module. > You only have access to two SO-DIMM slots, so if you want to max out your memory (32GB) you have to buy a 16GB model to start with. > Remember to buy DDR3L (1.35V memory) when upgrading. > Optical drive is held in by a single screw and uses a standard mobile SATA port. > The left drive bay (when flipped over) with both M.2 + SATA ports is the primary. You cannot run 2x 2.5" SSD + M.2 for example, but you can run 2x 2.5 inch or 1x 2.5 inch + 1x M.2. > Only one of the drive bays has an optional M.2 slot. > M.2 slot supports up to PCI-E 4x cards (like XP941)
We will not provide upgrade support for models purchased without M.2 initially sorry. Only models with M.2 pre-fitted will be supported with an M.2 bracket. > When buying an SSD model, take note that it's SATA or PCIE. This is due to the fact that m2 drives run fairly warm (40-70c), and will throttle once they reach a certain temperature.Somethings to look out for in addition to our upgrade guide (published on Weds 22nd Oct): If you have good airflow, great, but if not consider buying an adapter that includes a heatsink, or adding your own once you get a card.
However, remember that "M" keyed drives & devices are nmve only, and "B" keyed ones are Sata III, and they are NOT interchangable, so make sure both the drive and the card have the same key type, otherwise you will end up with 2 useless devices.Īnd to get all of the speed advantages of m2, you want nvme, NOT Sata.Īnother thing to consider whey buying the adapter card is the amount of airflow in your case. and even then, you could still use the adapter to add a 2nd or 3rd m2 drive if you wanted to.
Well guess what.the future is here NOW Cause almost every skylake board I have seen has at at least 1 m2 slot built onto it, some even have 2 (like mine) so no worries there about being able use whatever drive you buy for a new build.
